We Can Creative’s Co Founder Graham Watson has been supporting his County Town’s cultural paper for the last two years. Now the new Bedford Clanger is a quarterly magazine, and is regarded as Bedford’s best arts & culture publication. Over the last two years The Bedford Clanger has established itself as the town’s definitive arts, culture and listings publication dedicated to showcasing the very best of Bedford. So we’re thrilled to be backing it and being involved.
So with it’s new print run of 25,000 looming, the paper asked WE CAN Creative to produce a full and cohesive set of portraits for the newspaper team to be used throughout the publication. With our shot list drawn up, a reccy carried out in advance, weather reports checked, and scamps of the shots in hand, our photographer and his assistant arrived at the destination to find rain, and a bit more rain for good measure. But as with all shoots we didn’t let this ‘dampen’ our spirits (or our camera equipment) and bribed our way into one of Bedford’s most popular Italian restaurants, Spaghetti John’s, who in turn provided us with fresh Coffee, cake and a somewhat warmer photoshoot!
After a bit of a furniture rejig, we set a bright white table by the restaurant’s stunning full glass walls, popped up a reflector and got to work. Fuelled by espresso and Italian gusto, the shoot was a success. So much so, that The Guardian’s Gardening Editor, Jane Perrone – one of the writers – exclaimed “…thanks for doing such a great job on the byline photo … this is a first, I actually look like me!” Thank you, Jane!
